Environmental awareness is a matter of honor
For us as a family-run hotel, climate protection means that we want to shape a future that is also worth living in for future generations. For this reason, sustainability is a top priority for us.
We are committed - and certified
We have successfully applied for the GreenSign certificate, which assesses the sustainable management of accommodation establishments. You can find out more at www.greensign.de.
Our hotel is also certified with the DEHOGA Environmental Check Silver.

Pro wildlife
Hamburg wild animals instead of busy bees
During your stay, you can do something for the environment: forgo room cleaning by our "busy bees" and instead donate two euros for wild animals to protect endangered species.
Clean energy
Hamburg's clean energy
We purchase our electricity from Hamburg Energie, which has been committed to environmental protection since 2009. Today, the company is one of the largest local producers of solar and wind energy.

Products from the region
Long delivery routes are not our thing. Instead, we rely on regional and seasonal food. We have maintained a close and personal relationship with many suppliers for years. Of course, there are also products that we cannot source locally. In this case, we make sure that they are labeled with the Fairtrade seal.

If you want to minimize your personal carbon footprint during your stay - we will be happy to support you with a free three-day ticket for Hamburg's public transport system, which you will receive when you check in.

As the Baseler Hof, we have been a member of the Association of Christian Hoteliers (VCH) since 1906, and the values of the Christian philosophy of life are our maxim. We also strive to use resources carefully and contribute to the success of a functioning society in the interests of sustainability. We are therefore involved in various social and ecological projects.
Help Mahl!
Further help for the homeless during the cold season. When you visit a restaurant, you can add one euro to your bill as a donation, which will be transferred to the organization.
NCL Foundation
Children's dementia is still incurable today. To support the foundation, we take part in the "Cooking for Kids" charity campaign every year with the Kleinhuis' restaurant.
Fairtrade
Fair trade is also part of sustainability. The Fairtrade seal stands for better prices for small farmers and decent working conditions.
Hamburg Alliance for Families
The aim of the association is to further develop Hamburg into a metropolis that is also attractive for families.
Life support
Lebenshilfe Hamburg, which we support with annual sponsorships, helps people with intellectual disabilities to lead their own lives.
Hinz & Kunzt
The Hamburg city magazine is produced by professionals and sold by homeless people. We support them every year by sponsoring their Christmas party.
Youth helps youth
Addiction support, youth and disability work in the Hanseatic city since 1970.
Childhood Foundation
The aim of the organization, which was founded in 2004, is to help shape the common good of society and now comprises more than 20 projects.

The donation platform of the same name supports people who find themselves in a material emergency with the goods they need.

Museum harbor Oevelgönne
A harbor worth seeing on the Elbe with restored and functioning historic watercraft - we keep the floating monuments in good shape with our donation.
